Week of 5/23

This is our last FULL week of school!!! Can you believe how fast our year went??? With the end of the year comes many events.  Here's what's coming up:

5/24:  Volunteer Tea/Lunch for parent Volunteers. Thanks for all you do!  12:00-1:00 in the LLC

5/27:  Explore More Day

5/30:  Memorial Day, NO SCHOOL

6/1:  Field Day

6/2:  Field Day (Rain Date)

6/7:  Pizza and Snow Cone Lunch for final Class Party!

6/9:  Last Day!!! 11:15 Dismissal

Also, there will be a division quiz on 6/3 and a Spelling Focus Words Test (if you didn't get 100% on the last test)

Science:  We just took a cool field trip to the Lincoln Marsh, where we learned all about wetlands.

Gym: We are having fun playing baseball and capture the flag “ PLAY BALL”!!

Reading: On Thursday we are taking a test on Harriet Tubman and Freedom Train!  Next up, Reader’s Theater!!!!

Social Studies: We are starting our research on the Southwest and on the West Regions of the United States

Math: We are taking the Local Assessments and learning double digit multiplication! Next, LONG division!

Art appreciation: This week we have Mrs. Zablock as a guest and she is going to teach us about famous paintings and famous artists.

Max and K.C. blog

Max and K.C. Blog
Math: we are doing multiplication.
Reading: We are doing local assessments and finishing Harriet Tubman and Freedom Train.  There will be a test next week.
Gym: we are doing fitness tests.
Social studies: we are learning about the southwest region.
Art: shhhhhhhh we are making Mother’s Day presents. We also have four Mona buckaroos. We earn these when we are good.
Science: we are learning about wetlands. By playing a fun game called quick frozen critters and Oh Deer!  Next Tuesday is our Field Trip to Lincoln Marsh. Yay!
Read aloud: we are reading a great book called Extra Credit. It is about a sixth grader that might get held back. Then her teacher gives her an extra credit project where she has to write to someone from Afghanistan. But what happens when the girl from Afghanistan’s brother starts writing the letter?

The Max and Chris blog!

First, we are talking about Harriet Tubman. We are reading the books, Freedom Train and Harriet Tubman. We are watching the videos of Harriet Tubman, working on group activities, vocabulary, as well as reading the books!
            Next, we will talk about math. In math we are learning about fractions. We just finished learning about time and temperature.
            In science we are researching birds for our bird unit. We are having a lot of fun with it!  We published our bird expository papers last week and will type our narrative papers next week.
            In Social Studies we are learning about the Civil War. We are getting with partners and taking notes on are assigned projects. We “the kids” are making a test on the Civil War.
            In gym we are starting bowling! On April 25th we will start roller skating, so get that $6.00 in!!
            The book fair is overL. That stinks. There were a lot of good things there especially the books. It was AWSESOME!
            In read-aloud we are finishing Someone Named Eva! It is very sad but interesting.

Week of 4/11 News

Hopefully you enjoyed the beautiful weekend and spent your time OUTSIDE!!!

Here's what's going on this week:

Reading:  Continuing Harriet Tubman and Freedom Train

Math:  Today we're starting Chapter 19-Fractions!

Social Studies:  Civil War projects

Science and Writing:  This week we'll start writing Narrative Bird Stories from the view point of your bird!

Spelling:  Will be posted on Spelling City this afternoon

Other: 
- Mr. Lee the "Science Guy" will be doing science experiments with our class this Thursday!  Exciting:) 
-All School Picture is scheduled for this Friday at 3:00.  Fourth graders are to wear something red.
-Madison's Book Fair is this week!!! Please come afterschool on Tuesday to purchase some of your favorite books!
-Next Friday, 4/22:  NO SCHOOL!

Spring Break is Here!!!

Reagan and Abby's Blog entry

Hello this is Reagan and Abby we are here for this week’s blog. The spelling word for this week is on spelling city. Also, this week is the last week before SPRING BREAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And we are making lanterns for Spring break. This week for art we are doing CAKES (drawing them). Also for this week we are going to have three tests. We are going to have a metric measurements test over 12.7, 12.8, and 12.9 we also have a cheat sheet with it. The other test we have is on the southeast region on Friday we have our spelling test, of course. We are learning about liters and milliliters ‘that is on the test’. Drum role… we have some birthdays in March we have Jackson, Sarah, Luke, Max, Bethany, and Jack. We also have Tristan’s star of the week poster. Oh, and we almost forgot, we had a high school student reader that came to read to our class and she went to Madison when she was little. Her name was Lane. Thank you Lane.
