upcoming events

Hi there,
Here's what's coming up in 4S:

Math:  Test over the second part of fractions on Friday.  Addition and subtraction of fractions with common denominators, multiplication of fractions, finding parts of a number, addition and subtraction of mixed numbers, problem solving strategies: choosing which method (L20.5)

Writing:  We are publishing our Persuasive Papers this week.  They should be coming home shortly!

Social Studies:  We are reading about the Southwest and West Regions of the United States to gain  background knowledge for our last research project starting next week.

Science:  We are researching Illinois Birds to prepare us for our Wetlands Unit in Science.  Also, we will be writing an expository paper, a narrative paper, and a Haiku about our birds to make a "bird book." (along with a few other bird items. :)

Reading:  My "switch" is focusing on inferential comprehension skills and vocabulary for The Landry News.  See assignment notebooks for future quizzes.

Wednesday, April, 24:  All-School picture
Tuesday, April 30:  Volunteer Luncheon at 12:00 in the LLC
Wednesday, May 15:  Lincoln Marsh Field Trip. (permission slip coming home in early May)

 In math we are doing fractions. Our test is next Tuesday. 
We are writing a persuasive essay.
Mrs. Schroeder is still reading Harry Potter.  We are almost finished!
We are going to start a new reading switch next week!
The book fair was here this week!
In science, we have meal worms in class. We also had a science test Thursday.
The fourth quarter started on Wednesday. Spring is here and it’s wet and rainy.
Spelling test on Friday.
We are doing clay frogs in art.
Nia is doing star of the week.

Xin and Joe's Blog

Hi! This is Xin and Joe . We’re going to tell you what are we doing this week. This week we’re reading, Fly Traps! Plants That Bite Back. It’s about Carnivorous plants.  It’s pretty cool!
 In writing, we’re also writing a persuasive paper. So far, we have written our three body paragraphs.
In math were doing fractions.
Also next week is BOOK FAIR! Then 2 weeks later, it’s roller skating in PE.
For science we finished our last lesson, lesson3.  Next week we are reviewing chapter 3 and taking a test over lessons 1-3.  We are studying Mealworms right now.  We are observing the mealworms in their habitats like scientists.
Next week is Nia’s star of the week.
Also in art were making clay. The options are cupcakes and frogs. Cupcake won!
Then on April 10th there is going to be a Taekwondo master is going to come to our school for PE.
