Tara and Jocelyn's blog

Tara and Jocelyn here, a little heads up: we have a lot of tests this week! In Mrs. Fraser’s class the reading test is on Thursday and for Mrs. Schroeder’s class, they have their reading test on Friday. Everybody’s math test is on Wednesday, Mrs. Schroeder is also having a little math group. This week in social studies we are all doing a report on the important thing, places and people of the Revolutionary war. In science we are making graphic organizers for plants. We have a spelling test on Friday as usual, for words with “ar”. In gym we are playing team hand ball. We are still reading “The book of Eleswhere the Shadows” by Jacqueline West. Xin is the star of the week. Mrs. Schroeder brought donuts on Monday because everybody got an A or an A+ on their spelling test last week!  Way to go!! Have great week. Over and out!

Mr. Duttweiler is very capable and excited to spend about 10 weeks with our class.  He will be here to observe a few days before his starting date after Thanksgiving Break. We will be working together closely as a fourth team to support him and make sure that his time with your child is meaningful and consistent. Many thanks for all of your kind words, understanding, and support during this most exciting time!

Halloween "Guidelines":

-Please no fake blood, weapons, or masks.  They are not allowed at school.

-Children wear their "normal" clothes to school on Wednesday then change at lunch time.  You may pick your child up for lunch (please send a note) or they can change here at school.  Please make sure the costume they bring can be put on independently.
Any make-up or hair dye that needs adult help should be saved for the festivities at home after school.

Thank you in advance for your help with making another great Halloween here at Madison!  It's one of my favorite days!

As always, please don't hesitate to call or e-mail with any questions or concerns!

Meet Mr. Duttweiler

Dear parents,

Hello! My name is Caleb Duttweiler and I am extremely excited for the opportunity to teach Mrs. Schroeder’s class during her maternity leave. Our goal is to make the transition as smooth as possible for her, and most importantly, for your children. I hope to carry on what Mrs. Schroeder has established in the classroom so that the students know what to expect in the coming weeks. I have already been working at Madison Elementary this year and am therefore familiar with the school. Mrs. Schroeder is a fantastic teacher and I will do my very best to provide the same level of instruction during my time in the classroom. I am looking forward to getting to know the students and as many of you as I can. Please feel free to contact me via phone, 314-956-4688, or email, caleb.duttweiler@cusd200.org, at any time.
Sincerely,

Mr. Duttweiler

Lais and Noah's Blog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello, our names are Noah and Lais.  We are doing the blog this week!  First, we had the book fair this week! Second, Jerry is Star of the Week which will be interesting for us, Jerry is excited for that. Third, Mrs. Parrilli is coming for Conflict Resolution for four weeks. Fourth, we had a bus evacuation witch will be interesting.

In math we are learning division and multiplication.   We will have a chapter four Math test next week [study for it]. In addition, we had a Landform Quiz this Friday.  Hope we all did well!

We are still doing the reading switch for one more week. Most of us will have a test at the end.

In science, we are learning about plants, and we had a celery lab where we are observing to see if celery leaves will turn blue when we died the water because celery is a vascular plant.

For the next couple of weeks we have a fun research project about Revolution War and we will be  making power point presentations to share with the class.

Thank you for reading the blog this week!

We made Cells!

We made cells in Ziplock Bags using beans and hair gel!  Some of us chose to do an animal cell and some of us chose to do a plant cell.  The difference?  Plan cells have a cell wall and a chloroplast and animal cells don't.

Dough Island pictures

From painting their boxes, to combining the dough, the children had to work together to start their big project!  Up next:  painting elevation levels, adding a key, a compass rose and laditude and longitude lines.  Great job so far!  Some of the best yet!
