National Geographic Groups

The kids got in groups and made up a song, poem or rap about the National Geographic article, "Got Poison?"  This activity required the children to really comprehend the important information in the article, and summarize it in their own words.  After just 30 minutes, they performed thier song, poem or rap to the class....for some laughs too!  Great job kids!

One More...I couldn't resist!

Stella Pictures

These are a little late, but these are of Stella when she was just a few weeks old.  I'll add some current ones soon!  She'll be three months on 3/19!  She's
much bigger now!  This one is upside down, but I can't figure out how to turn it.  She's leaning up against Herbie and smiling:)

This week and next...

One full week of ISAT's down and just two more days next week.  The kids have done a fabulous job!  Next week we will be back to our regular schedule, meaning we will have a spelling test and a reading test along with homework. (It was good while it lasted, right kids?!?!)

Reading:  Next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday we will be reading our new National Geographic for kids to find facts and main ideas within each heading.  The following week, I'll be meeting with each child and reviewing their Daily 5 notebooks, making sure they have a "Good Fit" book and that they are working hard on their 35 book requirement!  After Spring Break we will start our Slavery, Underground Railroal and Harriet Tubman Unit.

Social Studies:  We are in the Southeast Region and we are starting our Civil War Unit!  Our Social Studies and Reading Units tie in so nicely together!

Science: The children did an EXCELLENT job on their Human Body Projects!  I'm so proud of their hard work!  Up next, Ecosystems

Math:   Measurement.  The math switch has been going great and for this chapter the children will get a chance to learn from all three 4th grade teachers.  I'm teaching capacity, Mr. Jewell is teaching weight and Mrs. Emma is teaching length.  It's been a blast so far!  Next Monday, you'll move to your second classroom. Yay!

Don't forget to change your clocks...Spring ahead one hour!
Enjoy your weekend,

Mrs. Schroeder

ISATs are coming!

Hi there!
Next week brings the ISATs. Not to worry, the hard part is over. Now all we have to do is our best and try to use our strategies we've learned throughout this school year. Here's what the schedule looks like:
Monday-Wednesday: reading
Thursday-Monday: math
Tuesday: 2 science tests

If you are sick, you will make up the test(s) you missed when you get back. Please try to do your best to eat healthy, nutritious foods and get plenty of sleep so you are rested for the following day.

There will be no homework or other tests next week due to ISATs! Yay!!!
That's it for now, enjoy your looOooooong weekend:)
